Marvel fans before the movies by Nacht-Vico Marvel fans before the movies by Nacht-Vico
A stamp for all the Marvel fans who liked it before the Avengers movie (or before Thor. Or the Iron Man movies)

Now, I'm not saying the Marvel movies are bad. I really had a good time watching the Avengers, I kinda liked the Iron man, Thor wasn't bad (I didn't really liked Captain America though)... Marvel makes great movies.

But I'm sometimes a little bit annoyed when I see "new" fans, claiming to be hardcore fan of the Marvel heroes, when they have only seen one or two movies, and when they claim that the comics are boring because they are "old" when they have never tried to read it. I really have nothing against new Marvel fans (I'm not a hardcore fan myself, I read a few comics when I was young, I still read it sometimes and I enjoyed most of the movies), but some of them are a little bit annoying, so... Have stamp :B

I have been reading Marvel Comics, watching Marvel shows and enjoying the glory of the Marvel Universe for over thirteen years now. Long before Marvel films properly began to rake in the cash, I was bringing comic books into school every day and watching their shows whenever I could!

Sure, there have been misses (every cinematic release Spider-Man has ever had so far), but for the most part, Marvel has always been awesome for me and will continue to be long after the MCU is over and done with.

I was a Marvel kid LONG before the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While other kids in my school were fawning over Batman or Superman, I was watching Spider-Man and X-Men cartoons (the 90's cartoons and "X-Men Evolution", particularly). Just as the Marvel-Verse was getting off the ground in Hollywood, I was still watching things like "Spectacular Spider-Man" and the animated Marvel Movies, not to mention the Sam Raimi Spider-Man movies (screw Marc Webb).

Yeah, I watched the cartoons and movies more than I read the comics, but I still was able to keep up with them thanks to online sources like comic book fansites, friends who were in touch with the comics, and online reviewers (Linkara, ItsJustSomeRandomGuy, etc.). It really helped me appreciate these characters and these stories as well as discern between the genius and the stupid.

I've been a Marvel fan since I was in fourth grade, LONG before the Marvel Cinematic Universe. For my birthday, my parents got me an Encyclopedia of Marvel characters and my brothers and I would spend hours leafing through the pages, reading about the heroes. I didn't read much comics, instead opting to watch cartoons, but still, I've been familiar with many of the characters since I was a kid. (For the record, one of my favorite Marvel heroes is Prowler, a side-character from Spider-Man comics.)

Before the Avengers, I loved the Sam Rami Spiderman movies and only a few of the X Men movies (they were just too confusing for me).  I also really liked the movies that led up to The Avengers like the two Iron Man Movies, Thor, and Captain America.

Before The Avengers, I loved all of Spider-Man, the X-Men and the Fantastic Four including the Hulk (on both comics, TV Shows and the movies and video games) :D

I grew up on various contributions of Marvel. But there was a time in my life I wasn't thinking about the Marvel universe.
The release of the newer movies did snap me back into it; but they don't change the fact that my dad was using "THE CLAAAW" on me when I was a toddler. It doesn't change the fact I grew up watching the 90's cartoon of X-men. Or those times my dad would want me to watch Spiderman with him (or when he tried sharing some of his lesser value comic collections with me).

Sort of hard to miss Marvel's impact anywhere. Especially when you spent some of your childhood with a geeky parental figure.

...But I really like the new movies. It's hard not too ^^ Honestly, I don't mind the hordes of new fans into the scene. I can lord over them with my slight knowledge of what going to happen//what's different//etc. I think it's kind of neat/fun to see the influx of differing people.
But I'm still putting this on my profile XD

Same here. I don't know everything about everyone, but if I like them, I try to learn about them. Read the comics, go n marvel wiki, etc. I don't even like the avengers, to be honest.

It's actually pretty hard to "know everything about everyone", Marvel has existed for so long, no one can blame you when something seems a little obscure to you ;)
I liked it, but it's not my favourite Marvel movie ^^

I have sometimes hard time finding my place here. Cause I did love Spider Man, Iron Man, X-men, FF from the cartoons I watched when I was a kid. Gambit was my first crush .) but apart from few Spider man Issues I didn't get to read many comic books (cause they don't sell them here :'D)
But then after 2002 I moved to other stuff - manga and anime, I started reading some X-men stuff a like year before the Avengers movie but my interest in Marvel re-emerged again with the Avengers movie. It was good motivation to start reading the comics, since I have seen the character from my younger years again looking so cool.
So yeah, I'd be lying if I said that I said I have been loving Marvel comics since forever but at the same time I'm not a "new" fan cause I have really liked the characters since childhood.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
But yeah people who are "hardcore fans" and haven't ever read the comic books, that is kinda annoying.

Who didn't loved Gambit? That guy was awesome in those cartoons xD.

I know what you mean there, when it comes to Marvel, I didn't read so many comics, I was more of a DC fan. But like you I watched the cartoons and read a few comics, so all theses characters are pretty much nice memories from my childhood, that I really enjoy to see in movies ^^.
In this stamp, I was really just talking of so called "hardcore fans" who don't even know who Stan Lee is.

I grew up loving Marvel despite only reading a few comics now and then. I just loved the characters, and once I got old enough to really appreciate them, I loved them even more. I have a friend who's convinced she loves Marvel, but when I showed her the book I found at a thrift store last, she didn't recognize a single character besides Wolverine. :|

I personally don't mind overrated stuff, Avengers exist since 60 years, I don't care if some random fangirls suddenly become "OMGFANFOREVER", they will probably forget about it in a few months... :P

I won't lie, When I went to see Captain America I had no knowledge of comic books whatsoever. After I had seen it I decided to read some of the comics online, because apparently Cap was A REAL propaganda tool for the war effort, before they US was even drawn into it. I thought that was the coolest. Then I started reading Spiderman and Iron Man. After seeing The Avengers and all the Loki fan girls that came along I'm not surprised the old fans are a bit annoyed. Sorry, long comment...

A lot of people actually begin to read comics after seeing one of Marvel movie. I think I began to read them after the first Spiderman, but I used to read a little bit of comics before it (but it was mostly DC comics, my father was a big fan x3).

I was into the comics and the Marvel cartoons before the movies were even made. Only reason the fangirls think of themselves as "hardcore Marvel fans" is because they think fangirlin' about handsome men is such an enormous accomplishment. Pff, idiots. Same thing happened with the Nazi Zombies fandom.

I like comics and heros in general. Though not before the first X-men came out. Because I was a sheltered thing and only stuff my mum would let me watch was PBS and loony tunes and Disney. I wasn't even allowed to watch Pokemon -_-'

Be grateful for the casual fans, they're the only reason we got an Avengers movie in the first place and they're the only reason we'll continue to see Marvel movies. It's the same reason we have tons of Batman movies shows and games, and not a single good Wonder Woman anything outside of animated shows.
