Not everyone likes Anime by Nacht-Vico Not everyone likes Anime by Nacht-Vico
When I made this ([link]) stamp, I knew I needed to make a "Anime" stamp like this...

So yeah, same message.
Anime is really popular, especially on the Internet. But it doesn't mean that every single guy has to love it. Anime is nothing more than a kind of cartoon. And some people don't like cartoons.
If you like anime, it's great for you. Just don't annoy people because they don't share your point of view...

I like anime since I see no crazy difference between Western cartoons other than anime is originally aired in Japanese. But I'm very picky, and I watch if there's a good storyline or if it's short/easy to follow (I normally get no time watch anime and shows these days.)

Good god, I cannot stand those batshit fans who shove their interests onto peoples' asses. It's equivalent to the immature batshit yaoi fans (like I respect you if you like it and I'm not a huge fan of it myself, but just don't been an ass about it.)

I like anime, but the fanbases of them really need to calm down when someone doesn't like it.

Anyway, isn't anime just Japanese cartoons? People, especially weebs and otakus, use the term anime as if they're better and different than western cartoons. No, they're not. They're the same thing.

I noticed that sometimes. I don't even think some otaku (I'm sorry to sound judgmental of a group) fairly gage animated entertainment sometimes. I stress SOME I don't want to pick on entire groups. They just see that it is anime/Japanese and it is automatically better. I didn't want to believe animation connoisseurs were that superficial but I guess that's their right.

It took me witnessing contradicting reasoning by otaku (whether it is the visuals or the storylines that make it soooooo good) to come to this conclusion, I'm not just a random anti-anime person and I even like a few anime.

Someone I know loves anime. She sorta forces it upon me and tells be to watch :insertanime:, I am in the furry fandom so I talk about animals and drawings of animals. She acts as if the anime fandom is the best out there and even gives me a little bit of hate for being in the furry fandom. Because the anime fandom is so perfect and has no pornographic or suggesting images in it yet the furry fandom are disgusting and has nothing but porn in it*coughnotcough*. She pisses me off, I want to show her what lies in the deep dark corners of the anime fandom.
I therefore love this stamp!

I agree. I would if the characters had more diverse appearances and personalities, there weren't dirty jokes left and right, and the characters didn't mostly wear skimpy outfits.
The fact that most animes are full of these is what turned me off to the genre.

I like some anime, but it's not the kind of anime that most people on dA are into. I prefer watching relatively tame, kid-friendly series (the character in my avatar is from Grimm's Fairy Tale Classics - one of the anime series that I watch on Youtube). I don't have any interest in most of the newer stuff that weeaboos fap to.

I am Russian, this doesn't mean that I am obsessed with Russian/Soviet cartoons. I dislike them - at least they are OBSOLETE. Why people still show them to our children? I watched one (actually was just listening to audio track, my lil bro was watching it), it was "Umka", and the sound quality was very bad - due to again, it was these times tech. Now we have Hi-Fi amplifiers and Hi-End analog mixers, they can produce sound way better using same technology. Now we can create similar cartoon (just let me create a cover...) with a PC, re-compose the lullaby with modern synthesizers using the relaxing, but high quality sound patches... I miss the lullaby, but know it ^^ Then, about "Karlsson on the roof" - I used to be scared of watching it and I won't watch it at all. This cartoon is a very hyper inappropriate. These days people will really sympathize with Lillebror (original Swedish character name) - a very cute, but lonely 7 years old boy who gets neglected. But Soviet kids were forced to obey Karlsson - while I think it's totally disgusting. How can a 30 years old man, who is fat and short, who laughs at everything and says "Keep calm" and "Nonsense" at every problem (thus forcing the little child to deal with everything that happens to him), and who has even the name that a kid can't even pronounce properly (while it's actually Swedish last name), be a character appropriate for children?
But in Japan, I had one friend on Kidzworld.com . His name was Mitsuo, but as far as I was talking to him, I found out that he is a child hater, die-hard anti-spiritualist (not just atheist), and he dislikes all people who love Japan - even these who just love doing o-hanami (watching sakura blossom), or "I am 7 yo girl and I luv hello kitty ^^"'s. He also hates ALL anime. He also said that I should get over anime and get addicted to matryoshkas and balalaika, and drink vodka (MI NON AMAS ALCOHOLON!!! MI NON ESTAS EBRIAN!!!).
So, you don't have to be patriot if you are a particular nation.

That Mitsuo guy sounds like such a dick. I can't believe he'd tell you that! Russian people are allowed to like anime. I know of plenty of Russian anime fans on dA. I don't see that many gushing over Soviet cartoons.

Maybe because Soviet cartoons are less popular and here in Russia are being considered solely kids stuff. But anyways, USSR animation industry was not just that stuff. There were some titles that were for adults too - usually with serious plots, sociopolitical, communist propaganda... And I agree that everybody is allowed to like, draw, produce anime etc.

Personally, I think that it's okay to prefer foreign media that isn't seen as popular in your country to media from your own country. On dA, I see way more Latin American users gushing over anime, video games, and cartoons than ones gushing over telenovelas. There are anime fans in the Middle East as well. Actually, I don't think I've ever interacted with a Japanese person who liked anime online (it's because Japanese people tend to use Japanese online, and since I don't know Japanese, I cannot communicate with most Japanese fans of anime).

For example, my favorite fairy tale writer is a Frenchwoman named Madame d'Aulnoy, who was a contemporary of Charles Perrault. I'm an American without a single drop of French blood. I'm of German and Italian heritage - while I do love the Brothers Grimm a lot, I still prefer Madame d'Aulnoy. (The Brothers Grimm are my second-favorite fairy tale writers.) Italy has had numerous fairy tale collectors. I like plenty of Italian fairy tales - and no, Pinocchio isn't a fairy tale. She isn't even a national icon in France the same way that Charles Perrault is - plenty of people do like her stories, but Perrault is more widely read. Mitsuo's comments towards you would be like a French person telling me to stop reading Madame d'Aulnoy and get addicted to Disney (I often jokingly call Disney movies "American fairy tales"), Once Upon a Time, or Twilight. It's true with a lot of real fairy tale writers - in the Muslim world, a lot of people seem to prefer European fairy tales over the Arabian Nights. I like lots of fairy tales from all over the world.

People like things that aren't traditional for their country. Plenty of people on the Atlantic and Indian Ocean coasts go surfing, despite surfing originating in the Pacific. I've done surfing myself and I've never been to California, Hawaii, or Australia. There are lots of Europeans who would rather play American sports than soccer or rugby. And those are just a few examples...

You don't have to be a patriot. Even countries with nationalist-minded governments such as Turkey have millions of people who aren't patriotic - I'm sure there's plenty of Turks who wouldn't care if aliens from outer space took over the country.

There is some anime I like, such as Attack on Titans, Project A-KO, Record of Lodoss Wars and Lensman for example. But man, those damn weeaboos and their creepy obsessions with fictional characters. Nothing like fandom abuse to kill all interest in a series or two.

BTW, why must most femmy looking pretty boys be so damn dull personality wise?

Exactly! I like anime, but I know people who force anime onto other people. I don't think that's right, because different people share different opinions. I only talk about it to people who already like it, or have an interest in it. I know it's annoying when people annoy me about things they don't like, so it's only fair if I talk about my interests to people who share the same interest.
